When the cubs left, I climbed the river bank to see if I could find their mother. I caught the mother in the tree line with one of the cubs next to her (there were 3 cubs in total). Notice the size difference! I'm glad she didn't come down by us. They wound up going down river and mangling another fisherman's backpack that had food in it. Then they took it into the forest. I'm not sure the guy went after it.
